Evanston health officials reported 24 new COVID-19 cases today, up from 17 yesterday. The city’s death toll remained unchanged today at 94.
Statewide there were 7,201 new cases today, compared to 8,009 yesterday, for a new total of 970,590.
The state reported 157 COVID-19 deaths today, compared to 133 yesterday, for a new total of 16,647.
The state reported 97,222 COVID-19 tests today, compared to 99,426 yesterday.
The IDPH reported tests of 856 Evanston residents today, compared to 268 yesterday. It found 19 positive cases for a daily positive rate of 2.2%.
The state now says Evanston has had a total of 3,181 cases, while Evanston’s health department counts 3,122 cases.
Updated case counts for Chicago and suburban Cook County were not immediately available today from the IDPH, but 58 people were reported to have died of the coronavirus in the county.
Those who died in Cook County today included two men in their 40s, a woman and three men in their 50s, two women and 11 men in their 60s, three women and 12 men in their 70s, 11 women and seven men in their 80s and three women and three men in their 90s.
As of last night, 4,093 people in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 837 patients were in the ICU and 496 of those were on ventilators.
