Evanston health officials reported 27 new COVID-19 cases today, up from 17 yesterday. The city’s death toll remained unchanged today at 92.
Statewide there were 4,699 new cases today, compared to 6,003 yesterday, for a new total of 905,069.
The state reported 97 deaths today, compared to 79 yesterday, for a new total of 15,299.
The state reported 86,454 COVID-19 tests today, compared to 78,079 yesterday.
The Illinois Department of Public Health reported tests of 467 Evanston residents today, compared to 1,435 yesterday. It found 25 positive cases for a daily positive rate of 5.4%.
The state now says Evanston has had a total of 2,995 cases, while Evanston’s health department counts 2,941 cases.
Chicago reported 1,132 new cases today for a total of 194,915. Its coronavirus death toll increased by 25 today to 3,945.
Suburban Cook County reported 907 more cases today for a total of 178,093 and 45 more deaths for a total of 3,500.
Those who died in Cook County today included a man in his 30s, two men in their 40s, two women and three men in their 50s, five women and seven men in their 60s, eight women and eight men in their 70s, 13 women and 13 men in their 80s, five women and two men men in their 90s and one woman over 100 years old.
As of last night, 4,460 people in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 981 patients were in the ICU and 546 of those were on ventilators.
