Evanston health officials reported 29 new COVID-19 cases today, up from 22 yesterday. The city’s death toll increased by one today to 96.
Statewide there were 6,839 new cases today, compared to 5,059 yesterday, for a new total of 991,719.
The state reported 125 COVID-19 deaths today, compared to 79 yesterday, for a new total of 16,959.
The state reported 87,083 COVID-19 tests today, compared to 48,254 yesterday.
The Illinois Department of public health reported tests of 707 Evanston residents today, compared to 415 yesterday. It found 32 positive cases for a daily positive rate of 4.5%.
The state now says Evanston has had a total of 3,253 cases, while Evanston’s health department counts 3,190 cases.
Chicago reported 1,202 new COVID-19 cases today for a total of 210,136 and 17 new deaths, for a total of 4,247.
Suburban Cook county reported 1,328 new cases today for a total of 193,851 and 17 more deaths for a total of 3,812.
The IDPH reported that the deaths in Cook County included a woman in her 40s, five women and seven men in their 60s, five women and five men in their 70s, three women and four men in their 80s and two women and three men in their 90s.
As of last night, 3,905 people in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 800 patients were in the ICU and 457 of those were on ventilators.
