Evanston health officials reported 30 new COVID-19 cases today, up from 22 reported yesterday. The city’s death toll remained unchanged today at 89.
Statewide there were 7,216 new cases today, compared to 8,737 yesterday, for a new total of 848,904.
The state reported 115 deaths today, compared to 126 yesterday, for a new total of 14,291.
The state reported 63,648 COVID-19 tests today, compared to 126,888 yesterday.
The Illinois Department of Public Health reported tests of 604 Evanston residents today, compared to 1,205 yesterday. It found 28 positive cases for a daily positive rate of 4.8%.
The state now says Evanston has had a total of 2,777 cases, while Evanston’s health department counts 2,705 cases.
Chicago reported 1,473 new cases today for a total of 184,192. Its coronavirus death toll increased by 10 today to 3,762.
Suburban Cook County reported 1,475 more cases today for a total of 168,217 and 18 more deaths for a total of 3,267.
Those who died in Cook County today included a woman and a man in their 20s, two women and three men in their 50s, two women and four men in their 60s, three women and one man in their 70s, five women and three men in their 80s, one woman and one man in their 90s and one man over 100 years old.
As of last night, 5,073 people in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 1,080 patients were in the ICU and 612 of those were on ventilators.
