Evanston health officials reported 33 new COVID-19 cases today, up from 13 reported yesterday. The city’s death toll remained unchanged at 88.

Statewide there were 8,691 new cases today, compared to 7,598 yesterday, for a new total of 796,264.

The state reported 88 deaths today, compared to 76 yesterday, for a new total of 13.343.

The state reported 77,569 COVID-19 tests today, compared to 79,538 yesterday.

State Health Director Dr. Ngozi Ezike told reporters at the governor’s pandemic news conference that it will be another week before the impact of the Thanksgiving holiday on coronavirus cases will become clear.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported tests of 593 Evanston residents today, compared to 767 yesterday. It found 23 positive cases for a daily positive rate of 3.9%.

The state now says Evanston has had a total of 2,625 cases, while Evanston’s health department counts 2,559 cases.

Chicago reported 1,862 new cases today for a total of 174,573. Its coronavirus death toll increased by 25 today to 3,627.

Suburban Cook County reported 1,828 more cases today for a total of 158,120 and 36 more deaths for a total of 3,118.

Those who died in Cook County today included one woman in her 30s, two men in their 40s, four women and five men in their 50s, three women and three men in their 60s, 10 women and eight men in their 70s, seven women and 13 men in their 80s and one two women and five men in their 90s.

As of last night, 5,190 people in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 1,123 patients were in the ICU and 648 of those were on ventilators.
