Evanston health officials reported 36 new COVID-19 cases today, up from 16 yesterday. The city’s death toll remained unchanged today at 100.
Statewide there were 6,652 new cases today, compared to 5,862 yesterday, for a new total of 1,052,682.
The state today reported that a total of 414,295 vaccine doses had been administered as of yesterday, less than half the doses distributed to the state by the federal government, and 0.72% of the state’s population is now fully vaccinated.
The state reported 88 COVID-19 deaths today, compared to 97 yesterday, for a new total of 17,928.
The state reported 118,036 COVID-19 tests today, compared to 76,107 yesterday.
The Illinois Department of Public Health reported tests of 2,192 Evanston residents today, an all-time high, compared to 282 yesterday. The IDPH found 26 positive cases here for a daily positive rate of 1.2%.
The state now says Evanston has had a total of 3,467 cases, while Evanston’s health department counts 3,404 cases.
Chicago reported 1,509 new COVID-19 cases today for a total of 221,699 and nine new deaths, for a total of 4,392.
Suburban Cook county reported 932 new cases today for a total of 204,959 and five more deaths for a total of 3,991.
The IDPH reported that the deaths in Cook County included a man in his 50s, three women and one man in their 60s, four women and two men in their 70s, two women and one man in their 80s and one woman in her 90s.
As of last night, 3,511 people in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 742 patients were in the ICU and 382 of those were on ventilators.
