Evanston health officials reported 36 new COVID-19 cases today, down from 37 reported yesterday. The city’s death toll remained unchanged at 88.

Statewide there were 9,887 new cases today, compared to 10,526 yesterday, for a new total of 779,975.

The state reported 205 deaths today, compared to 144 yesterday, for a new total of 113,179.

The state reported 102,678 COVID-19 tests today, compared to 112,634 yesterday.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported tests of 952 Evanston residents today, compared to 613 yesterday. It found 25 positive cases for a daily positive rate of 2.6%.

The state now says Evanston has had a total of 2,559 cases, while Evanston’s health department counts 2,513 cases.

Chicago reported 1,896 new cases today for a total of 171,062. Its coronavirus death toll increased by 30 today to 3,589.

Suburban Cook County reported 1,795 more cases today for a total of 154,751 and 34 more deaths for a total of 3,072.

Those who died in Cook County today included two women and three men in their 50s, six women and seven men in their 60s, eight women and 12 men in their 70s, three women and 14 men in their 80s, six women and two men in their 90s and one woman over 100 years old.

As of last night, 5,331 people in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 1,134 patients were in the ICU and 694 of those were on ventilators.
