Evanston health officials reported 37 new COVID-19 cases today, up from 24 reported yesterday. The city’s death toll remained unchanged at 88.

Statewide there were 10,526 new cases today, compared to 10,959 yesterday, for a new total of 770,088.

The state reported 144 deaths today, compared to 191 yesterday, for a new total of 12,974.

Gov. J.B. Pritkzer discussed plans for distributing coronavirus vaccines at his news conference this afternoon.

The state reported 112,634 COVID-19 tests today, compared to 106,778 yesterday.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported tests of 613 Evanston residents today, compared to 760 yesterday. It found 35 positive cases for a daily positive rate of 5.7%.

The state now says Evanston has had a total of 2,534 cases, while Evanston’s health department counts 2,477 cases.

Chicago reported 1,757 new cases today for a total of 169,166. Its coronavirus death toll increased by 18 today to 3,559.

Suburban Cook County reported 2,041 more cases today for a total of 152,956 and five more deaths for a total of 3,038.

Those who died in Cook County today included two women in their 40s, three women and four men in their 60s, three women and five men in their 70s, four women in their 80s and five women in their 90s.

As of last night, 5,453 people in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 1,153 patients were in the ICU and 703 of those were on ventilators.
