Four Evanston businesses were cited for selling tobacco products to underage buyers, police reported today.

A check was made on Thursday of the 40 businesses licensed to sell tobacco in Evanston by sending in an underage person,  under police surveillance,  to attempt to buy tobacco.

It is unlawful to sell these products to persons under the age of 18.

The businesses issued citations were:

Babylon Foods,1618 Emerson St., Silver Pantry, 828 Davis St., 7-Eleven, 817 Davis St., and Evanston Gas & Food Shell,101 Ridge Ave.
