Evanston reported 45 new COVID-19 cases this week, the same number as last week.
Cases reported among students at School District 65 declined from 11 to 5, but the number of D65 students in quarantine increased from 49 a week ago to 80 as of this Friday.
At Evanston Township High School there were two new cases among students this week, the same as last week. But the number of students quarantined increased from six to 10.
Total cases at Northwestern University declined for the second week in a row after the university imposed enhanced testing requirements for graduate students, who had a surge in cases two weeks ago.
A COVID death reported last week as being of an Evanston resident was removed from the count this week after health officials determined the victim actually lived in Skokie. So Evanston’s pandemic death toll now stands at 121.
The city says 97.8% of Evanston residents 65 and older are now fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as are 83.3% of all residents 12 and older.
