Five bicycles have been reported stolen recently in Evanston. This among stories in Thursday’s daily crime bulletin from Evanston police.
THEFT
1300 Forest
An unsecured orange Giant bicycle was taken from a yard in the 1300 block of Forest Avenue around 5 p.m. on Aug. 18.
1700 Greenwood
Someone gained entry to an unlocked garage in the 1700 block of Greenwood Avenue between 1 a.m. and 8 a.m. Monday and took a blue Specialized Rockhopper bicycle.
1700 Benson
A white bicycle that was secured to a bike rack in the 1700 block of Benson Avenue was taken between 11:30 a.m. and 11:40 a.m. Tuesday.
A red Ross vintage bicycle was taken from the 1700 block of Benson Avenue around 4 p.m. Wednesday.
2000 Darrow
A black Towny 7D bicycle, left unsecured in the 2000 block of Darrow Avenue, was stolen between 5 p.m. Sunday and 7 a.m. Monday.
800 Brown
A catalytic converter was removed from a 2010 Mazda in the 800 block of Brown Avenue between 1 a.m. on Aug. 18 and 4:01 p.m. the following day.
400 Lee
A catalytic converter was removed from a 2001 Acura in the 400 block of Lee Street around 3:23 a.m. Wednesday.
2600 Bennett
A catalytic converter was removed from a 2017 Mitsubishi in the 2600 block of Bennett Avenue between 8:45 p.m. Monday and 4:45 a.m. Tuesday.
600 Chicago
Miscellaneous merchandise was stolen from the Walgreens Pharmacy in the 600 block of Chicago Avenue around 8 p.m. Wednesday.
1600 Sherman
Retailers in the 1600 block of Sherman Avenue reported thefts of merchandise between 1:20 p.m. and 2:05 p.m. Tuesday.
800 Church
Glasses were stolen from a merchant in the 800 block of Church Street between noon and 1 p.m. on Aug. 18.
Chicago at Dempster
Larry L. Smith, 50, of 7232 S. Merrill St., Chicago, was arrested at Chicago Avenue and Dempster Street at 11:30 p.m. Tuesday and charged with retail theft.
BURGLARY
200 South Boulevard
Someone gained entry via an unlocked window of a residence in the 200 block of South Boulevard between 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Friday and stole cash.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE
1900 Jackson
A brick was used to damage a 2002 Jeep in an alley in the 1900 block of Jackson Avenue between noon and 7:25 p.m. Wednesday.
SHOTS HEARD
Colfax at Sherman
Gunshots were reported at Colfax Street and Sherman Avenue at 10:02 p.m. Friday. Police checked the area and received reports from witnesses of fireworks nearby at about that time.
TRAFFIC
1454 Elmwood
Roberto Collazo, 52, of 1N233 Gary Ave., Carol Stream, was arrested at Evanston police headquarters at 1:37 p.m. Tuesday and charged with a traffic violation.
2400 Main
Oscar B. Vera, 25, of 1617 Dempster St., was arrested in the 2400 block of Main Street at 7:24 p.m. Wednesday and charged with a traffic violation.
