The Chicago-Dempster Merchants Association is having its Holiday Cookie Walk & Coat Drive — one of more than a dozen activities on tap today in Evanston.

All manner of winter coats, hats and scarves can be dropped off at Shaker Traditions or Bagel Art for donation to the YWCA.

Many merchants will be offering free homemade cookies to shoppers who stop by today. Most shops open at 11.

And if you need more than cookies to sustain you, several restaurants and the new Hewn bakery can help sustain you.

Here’s a list of what else is going on around town.
