Evanston health officials reported 12 new COVID-19 cases today, up from 11 yesterday. The city’s death toll increased by one today to 104.

Statewide there were 3,385 new cases today, compared to 3,162 yesterday, for a new total of 1,072,214.

The state today reported that a total of 495,563 vaccine doses had been administered as of yesterday, less than half the 1,085,750 doses distributed to the state by the federal government, and 0.83% of the state’s population is now fully vaccinated.

The state reported 50 COVID-19 deaths today, compared to 29 yesterday, for a new total of 18,258.

The state reported 63,002 COVID-19 tests today, compared to 96,845 yesterday.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported tests of 1,309 Evanston residents today, compared to 2,072 yesterday. The IDPH found 20 positive cases here for a daily positive rate of 1.5%.

The state now says Evanston has had a total of 3,542 cases, while Evanston’s health department counts 3,457 cases.

Chicago reported 595 new COVID-19 cases today for a total of 225,409 and 12 new deaths, for a total of 4,448.

Suburban Cook County reported 657 new cases today for a total of 208,932 and 18 more deaths for a total of 4,077.

The IDPH reported that the deaths in Cook County included a man in his 30s, two women in their 50s, three women and three men in their 60s, three women and three men in their 70s, six women and three men in their 80s and two women and four men in their 90s.

As of last night, 3,345 people in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 705 patients were in the ICU and 392 of those were on ventilators.
