After a lot of rain overnight, Evanston officials expect the city will get a little snow this afternoon.

Streets and Sanitation Superintendent James Maiworm says crews are out salting residential streets ahead of the snowfall, which is expected to start around noon and taper of about 7 p.m.

Only aobut a half-inch of snow is expected here.

Temperatures will drop all day and be around 28 for the evening rush hour tonight. Overnight lows in the teens are expected. Freeze back of already-wet pavement is a concern, Maiworm says.

But he says the wet pavements now will let the salt hold better on streets.
