A pizza delivery man was robbed last night at about 9:30 p.m. at Foster Street and Ashland Avenue, just as the holiday fireworks were about to begin. The thief got away with about $90 in cash. An hour later, a shooting occurred a block away at Foster and Jackson Avenue. These among stories in today’s daily crime bulletin from Evanston police.

Robbery

Foster at Ashland

A robbery occurred at Foster Street and Ashland Avenue at 9:28 p.m. yesterday. The victim, who was delivering a pizza, turned over about $90 in cash to the suspect, who was identified as a black male.

Battery

Foster at Jackson

A victim was shot on the sidewalk at Foster Street and Jackson Avenue around 10:40 p.m. yesterday about an hour later than when a robbery occurred just a block away.

1900 Howard

Aziz Rostamali, 45, of 7222 N. Damen Ave., Chicago, was arrested at 1900 Howard St. at 5:37 a.m. yesterday and was charged with domestic battery. He is due in court on July 17 at 9:30 a.m.

Burglary

500 Forest

A burglar entered an unlocked 2014 Nissan in the driveway of a home in the 500 block of Forest Avenue between 8 p.m. Tuesday and 8 a.m. Wednesday. Nothing was reported taken.

2000 Colfax

Cash and miscellaneous merchandise were taken from an unlocked 2015 Ford in the 2000 block of Colfax Street between 3 p.m. Tuesday and 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.

600 Brummel

Someone broke the rear window of a 2001 Dodge in the 600 block of Brummel Street between 8 p.m. Tuesday and 7:30 a.m. Wednesday and stole tools from the vehicle.

800 Mulford

A burglar broke the glass panel on the door to an apartment in the 800 block of Mulford Street between 2:30 p.m. and 3:36 p.m. Wednesday and stole a laptop computer.

Criminal Damage

1400 Leonard

A planter and a flood light bulb were broken at the garage of a home in the 1400 block of Leonard Place between 7 p.m.  and 8:45 p.m. Wednesday.

1454 Elmwood

Xavier O. Thomas, 22, of 1848 Ashland Ave., was arrested at Evanston police headquarters at 8:15 p.m. Wednesday and charged with unlawful use of a weapon.

Theft

900 Judson

A bicycle was stolen from an apartment common area in the 900 block of Judson Avenue between 3 p.m.  June 26 and 7 a.m. Wednesday.

1100 Oak

A bicycle was stolen from an apartment common area in the 1100 block of Oak Avenue between 8:30 a.m. June 30 and 6 p.m. Tuesday.

2500 McDaniel

A bicycle was stolen from an apartment common area in the 2500 block of McDaniel Avenue between 10 p.m. Wednesday and 8:34 p.m. yesterday.

1700 Orrington

A bicycle locked to a bike rack in the 1700 block of Orrington Avenue was stolen between 9:30 a.m. and 5:15 p.m. Wednesday.

1800 Maple

A bicycle was stolen from an apartment common area in the 1800 block of Maple Avenue between 4:20 p.m. and 7 p.m. Wednesday.

2300 Noyes

A money order was taken from an apartment in the 2300 block of Noyes Court between 6 a.m. and 6:14 a.m. yesterday.

2000 Emerson

A silver 2017 Chevrolet was stolen from the 2000 block of Emerson Street around 2 a.m. today.

500 Howard

Tobacco products were taken from a gas station in the 500 block of Howard Street at about 1:17 a.m. today.

622 Davis

Amy Bowler, 45, of 7641 N. Bosworth Ave., Chicago, was arrested at 622 Davis St. at 2:12 p.m. Wednesday and charged with retail theft. She is due in court on Aug. 8  at 10:30 a.m.

2209 Howard

Inha Valiuk, 49, of 7141 N. Kedzie Ave., Chicago, was arrested at 2209 Howard St. at 3:29 p.m. Wednesday and charged with retail theft. She is due in court on July 29 at 9 a.m.

Traffic

1400 Crain

Simon Benitez, 51, of 6111 W. Cornelia Ave., Chicago, was arrested at 1400 Crain St. at 8:51 a.m. Tuesday and charged with a traffic violation. He is due in court on Aug. 7 at 1:30 p.m.

1500 Maple

Jazzlyn A. Figueroa Orozco, 21, of 5119 W. Henderson St., Chicago, was arrested at 1500 Maple Ave. at 2:26 p.m. Wednesday and charged with a traffic violation. She is due in court on Aug. 7 at 1:30 p.m.

An arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt, which can only be determined by a court of law. Court appearances take place in Cook County 2nd District Circuit Court in Skokie.
