Evanston’s firefighters union membersTuesday assembled 35-pound baskets of food to help feed families in need at Thanksgiving.
They gathered at Fire Station No. 3 at 1105 Central St. to carry on a tradition started 11 years ago.
Firefighter/paramedic Rob Byrne enlisted his two kids, Jack, 3, and Shannon, 5, to help pack the baskets..
Funds donated by union members were used to buy groceries, including turkey and all the fixings. After assembling the 12 baskets, they transported them to Family Focus for distribution to local families.
