Evanston police and fire units were on the scene of a traffic accident that blocked the morning commute at Green Bay Road and Noyes Street.

A car plowed into the Metra rail embankment, also knocking down a traffic signal at the intersection.

The accident reportedly happened shortly after 7:30 a.m. The road was back open to traffic by about 9 a.m.
