Residents in west and south Evanston will have extra dates for street cleaning in early December, weather permitting, according to the city’s Public Works Agency.,

Residential streets in Zone 3 will be cleaned  on Tuesday, Dec. 4, south and west sides of the street, and Wednesday, Dec. 5, north and east sides of the street.

Residential streets in Zones 4 will be cleaned Tuesday, Dec. 11, south and west sides of the street, and Wednesday, Dec. 12, north and east sides of the street

Depending on the weather and street conditions, sweeping may not be possible, the city warned, but crews will push, mound, and remove as many leaves as possible. All parking restrictions are voluntary; there will be no ticketing or towing, they said.

The city reminds community members that blowing or raking leaves into the street is a nuisance and can cause flooding and block sewers. Violators will be fined, they warned.
