Numerous Evanston police units responded the Walchirk Apartments in the 2300 block of Noyes Court about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday after a domestic dispute turned violent.

Police Cmdr. Joseph Dugan says a 51-year-old male resident of the building had gotten into an argument with his 49-year-old girlfriend after smoking crack cocaine.

During the argument, the woman was cut with a knife. She suffered a superficial laceration to her right forearm and was treated on the scene by fire department paramedics.

Dugan says the suspect is in custody with further investigation and charges pending.
