An Evanston alderman says the home invasion in her ward Wednesday was not a random incident, and the tenants of the apartment involved have now been evicted.

Alderman Ann Rainey, writing on her 8th Ward message board, says the owner of the property at 131 Asbury Ave. had obtained a court order for the eviction before the incident.

Rainey says that with the assistance of County Commissioner Larry Suffredin, the County Sheriff’s Department moved up the schedule for the eviction and it was carried out Friday morning.

Police say the tenants knew the armed men who arrived at the property at 2:45 p.m. Wednesday. They are continuing to conduct interviews in the case, but had made no arrests as of Friday afternoon.

Rainey says the lesson to problem tenants should be, “Clean up your act, your neighobrs will not tolerate you.”
