Alsip man charged with battery

Evanston police today said they’ve made an arrest in an apparently unprovoked attack downtown last Friday. That story among the items in today’s daily crime bulletin.

Battery

1005 Davis

Evanston police arrested Daniel G. Johnson, 34, of 4596 W. 131st St. in Alsip at 1005 Davis St. at 3:16 p.m. Monday and charged him with battery in connection with an incident Friday afternoon.

Police Cmdr. Joseph Dugan says a 65-year-old Evanston man was walking through the tunnel under the Davis Street Metra station at 2:34 p.m. Friday when a man walked up to him and, without saying a word, punched him several times in the face.

The victim was treated by paramedics at the scene and said his attacker, who appeared to have been homeless, was accompanied by a blonde-haired woman.

Burglary

2600 Payne

Someone stole golf clubs from an unlocked 1998 Honda parked in the driveway of a home in the 2600 block of Payne Street Sunday night or Monday morning.

Criminal damage

1000 Howard

Graffiti was found sprayed on an office buiding in the 1000 block of Howard Street at 9:38 a.m. Monday.

800 Mulford

Someone broke a window of a 2004 Honda parked at an apartment building in the 800 block of Mulford Street just before midnight Monday.

Theft

1700 Orrington

Someone stole bicycles that were locked to a bike rack in the 1700 block of Orrington Avenue Monday afternoon.

Traffic

1227 Dodge

Enrique Mora Morales, 20, of 1123 Dewey Ave. in Evanston, was arrested for a traffic violation at 1227 Dodge Ave. at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday.
