Senior Remy Amarteifio showed the way with three top 6 finishes today and sparked the Evanston girls track team to a fifth place finish in their outdoor debut at the Holt Invitational in Wentzville, Mo.

The Wildkits totaled 70 points and placed 5th in the 12-team field. Webster Groves (Mo.) won the title with 104 points.

Amarteifio took top honors in the 100-meter hurdles with a first place time of 15.14 seconds, and added a third place finish in the 300 hurdles (48.82) and a sixth in the open 200 dash (26.59).

Another senior, Genora Garcia, accounted for Evanston’s other gold medal performance as she ruled the shot put with a best throw of 37 feet, 6.5 inches.

Also earning top finishes for the Wildkits were freshman Enyaeva Michelin, third in both the 1600 (5:30.51) and 800 (2:28.66); Alexia Harvey, fourth in the 300 hurdles (49.16), fifth in the 100 hurdles (15.87) and seventh in the 200 (26.73); sophomore Hailey Taylor, fifth in the 100 (13.4); freshman Tyronesha Harris, sixth in the 100 (13.51); and junior Hannah Hayat, sixth in the 800 (2:33.67).

The 400 relay team of Crea Taylor, Harris, Summer Mitchell and Harvey was clocked in 50.80, good for third place.
