The National Weather Service says a spring storm could dump an inch or two of snow on Evanston overnight tonight.

It will be heavy, wet snow, mixed with rain, with the temperature expected to stay around the freezing mark.

The weather then will warm up on Friday to an expected high of 43 degrees, which should cause much of the snow to melt away on its own.

Edgar Cano of Evanston’s Public Works Agency says the city’s private forecasters are anticipating only a half inch or so of snow here.

He says crews today are pretreating bridge decks, hills and other likely slippery spots in preparation for the storm.
