Evanston health officials reported four new COVID-19 cases among city residents again today. Statewide there were 1,617 new cases.
The statewide positive rate in Illinois today is 3.3%, and the seven-day average is 3.4%.
The Illinois Department of Public Health reported results of 49,513 tests today, up from Monday’s 38,538.
The IDPH reported tests of 224 Evanston residents today, up from 206 on Monday. It found four positive cases here for a positive rate today of 1.8%, compared to a seven-day average rate of 1.5%. The seven-day rate here was 1.5% a week ago.
The state now says Evanston has had a total of 1,174 cases.
By the city’s count, Evanston has a total of 1,177 COVID-19 cases. The city’s death toll from the disease remained unchanged today at 73.
The latest seven-day average positive rate for some other communities:
- Chicago 3.3%.
- Suburban Cook County 4.2%
- Skokie 2.5%
- Wilmette 2.2%
Chicago reported 192 new cases today for a total of 82,233. Its coronavirus death toll rose by thee to 2,979.
Suburban Cook County reported 269 more cases today for a total of 67,355 and five more deaths for a total of 2,289.
Those who died in Cook County today ranged from a man in his 60s to a woman in her 90s.
The state now has 305,011 COVID-19 cases, and it reported 31 more deaths today for a total of 8,836.
As of last night, 1,673 people in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 384 patients were in the ICU and 159 of those were on ventilators.
