Another six COVID-19 cases in Evanston, state has 1,707 more

The positive test rate improved a bit across Illinois today, but Evanston now has reported a dozen COVID-19 cases in the past two days.

Evanston health officials today reported six new COVID-19 cases for the second day in a row while statewide 1,707 people tested positive for the disease.

While there were no additional coronavirus deaths in Evanston, 24 more people lost their lives statewide including eight in Cook County, all over the age of 60.

Evanston now has reported a total of 980 cases while statewide 227,334 people have been diagnosed with the disease.

Chicago reported 221 new cases today for a total of 69,815 and two more deaths for a total of 2,863.

Suburban Cook county had 298 more cases for a total of 53,876 and six more deaths for a total of 2,176.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported test results for 44,510 people today with a positive rate of 3.8%, compared to the seven-day average positive rate of 4.1%

The IDPH reported results of 221 tests on Evanston residents and sid it found three positive cases for a positive rate of 1.4%
