A 54-year-old Evanston man said he was accosted early today by two men in a white sedan on Ashland Avenue near Howard Street who fired two shots and took the victim’s backpack. This among the stories in today’s daily crime bulletin from Evanston police.

A 54-year-old Evanston man told police he was walking south on Ashland Avenue around 4 a.m. today when two men in a white sedan drove by, fired two shots, and yelled at him to stop. One of the offenders then grabbed the man’s backpack, which contained miscellaneous personal items, and they both fled south on Ashland in the sedan.

Battery

4935 Louise

Ramone Ramario Lewis, 24, of 1917 Howard St., was arrested at 4935 Louise Ave., Chicago, at 4:57 p.m. Monday and charged with battery.

Theft

Maple at University

Kenneth Ross, 38, of 915 Dobson St., was arrested at Maple Avenue and University Place at 1:09 p.m. yesterday and charged with retail theft and trespassing on real property. He is due in court on March 25 at 10:30 a.m.

Incidents listed appear among the official reports of the Evanston Police Department. An arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt, which can only be determined by a court of law. Court appearances take place in Cook County 2nd District Circuit Court in Skokie.
