Road resurfacing work on Asbury Avenue, from Howard to Oakton Streets, starts this week and is scheduled to continue through the end of September.

The project, contracted by the Illinois Department of Transportation, involves curb replacement as needed, accessible ADA ramps at the intersections, roadway base repair, replacement of the asphalt surface from curb to curb, and roadway striping.

The actual date when construction is planned will be noted on temporary “No Parking” signs posted 48 hours prior to the start of work.

Construction zone daytime “No Parking” restrictions will be intermittent throughout the duration of the project; evening and nighttime parking (5 p.m. to 7 a.m.) will be available at times. Street cleaning and/or neighborhood parking restrictions will be waived for a one-block radius around the construction zone when temporary daytime “No Parking” is in effect.

Funding for the project is from Illinois Department of Transportation Funds.

The contractor for this street improvement project is Arrow Road Construction, Inc., 3401 S. Busse Rd., Mt. Prospect.

The project is under the supervision of IDOT. The resident engineer in the field will be Glen Pennington, who will be directly responsible for all aspects of the construction. For questions or concerns, please contact the resident engineer at 630-816-5940.

Questions about the Asbury Avenue resurfacing project in general should be directed to City of Evanston Senior Project Manager Sat Nagar, at 3-1-1 or 847-448-4311.
