Evanston police received a 9-1-1 call after midnight Sunday morning that a car was stopped in the eastbound lane of the 2400 block of Oakton Street with the engine running and someone sitting inside at the wheel.

When the officers arrived, according to Perry Polinski, a police spokesman, they found that the driver was asleep at the wheel, apparently intoxicated.

The driver was identified as Erik Z. Abron, 28, of 711 Florence Ave. He was charged with driving under the influence and is scheduled to appear in Cook County 2nd District Circuit Court in Skokie  on Dec. 31 at 9 a.m.
