Auto break-in leads to four arrests

Evanston police arrested four Chicago men early this morning after a resident alerted them to a car burglary in progress in the 1100 block of Washington Street.

Officers searching the area spotted two suspects who initially eluded them, but were later spotted trying to hide in a parked car in the 700 block of Wesley Avenue. A fourth man was detained as he tried to leave the area.

Officers searching the area spotted two suspects who initially eluded them, but were later spotted trying to hide in a parked car in the 700 block of Wesley Avenue. A fourth man was detained as he tried to leave the area.

The suspects were identified by witnesses, and the state’s attorney’s office now has filed charges of felony auto burglary against Dominique L. Armstrong, 17, of 5527 W. Iowa, and Markise L. Freeman, 17 of 8708 S. Saginaw, and charges of criminal trespass to vehicle against Davontae L. Armstrong, 17, and  Xavier M. Givens, 19, both of the 5727 W. Iowa address.

All four men are scheduled to appear in Skokie district court on Jan. 20.
