The one-time home of the Seafood Buffet restaurant in the Evanston Plaza shopping center is set to become an auto parts store.

The city’s Design and Project Review Committee is scheduled Wednesday to review plans to remodel the space to become an outlet for the AutoZone chain.

AutoZone‘s closest current location in on Touhy Avenue in West Rogers Park.

The roughly 6,000 square foot retail space is one of the larger ones that has remained vacant as the center’s new owners, who also operate the Valli Produce supermarket there, have worked to lease up the shopping center in recent years.
