The fourth annual Backstage Evanston will showcase fifteen local theater, dance, and music companies on Sunday, Sept. 29, in the Ethel M. Barber Theater at Northwestern University.

Doors will open 2:30 p.m. and the performances run from 3 to 6 p.m.

Presented by the Arts & Business Committee of the Evanston Arts Council and the City of Evanston, the event is one-stop-shopping for theater and music lovers.

Each group will present five-minute performances and offer special discounted tickets to their season’s events.

This year the event will also celebrate the city’s 150th anniversary by offering a historical glimpse of the participating groups with photographs and anecdotes.

The participating gorups are The Actors Gymnasium, CoCoDaCo, Evanston Dance Ensemble, Evanston Symphony Orchestra, Fleetwood-Jourdain Theatre, Light Opera Works, The Musical Offering, Music Institute of Chicago, Next Theatre Company, North Shore Choral Society, Piccolo Theatre, Piven Theatre Workshop, Renovo String Orchestra, The Savoyaires, and Theater and Interpretation Center at Northwestern University.

Advance tickets are $20 and can be purchased online at BackstageEvanston.com or by phone at 847-448-8260. Tickets at the door are $25.  Students are $10 (with ID). Kids age 12 and under are free. Non-student entrance vouchers are redeemable for a special $20 offer from any participating organization.

The Ethel M. Barber Theater is located at 30 Arts Circle Drive on the Northwestern University campus.  Free parking is available in the two-level lot on Arts Circle Drive and is easily accessible during construction on campus.
