The Evanston Wildkit baseball team scored 8 runs in the first three innings and never looked back as they pounded Niles North 13-4 in a CSL crossover challenge game Thursday afternoon.

Evanston recorded 12 hits in the game including two each from Alex Vergara, Brandon Vamarasi, Evan Binford and Chris Rudnicki.

Sophomore call-ups Jackson Mihevc and Jack Blanchard played key roles in the game.  Mihevc started on the mound pitching four innings giving up four runs and eight hits.

Mihevc also was one for three with three RBI at the plate. Blanchard had a key safety squeeze RBI bunt that keyed a five-run second inning.

Evanston scored five runs in the second, three in the third and five more in the fifth to put the game out of doubt. The Kits will be back in action in their final regular season game on Saturday at Lake Zurich.

They will face Niles North again in the Oak Park Regional next Thursday afternoon. Evanston’s overall record is now 16-18.
