With the score tied 7-7 in the bottom of the eighth inning, Eli Otting hit his second home run of the game to left field just to the right of the Blue Monster to finish a furious comeback with a 8-7 victory today for the Evanston varsity baseball team.

Through 6 1/2 innings, things were not looking good for the Kits.  Down 7-1 with one out in the bottom of the 7th, Jack Blanchard started a 6 run inning with a single to left field.

Otting hit his first round tripper off the scoreboard in left center to cut the lead to 7-3. Martin Fenn then reached on an error, Jackson Mihevc was hit by a pitch, then Michael Pope then singed to left field.  Sam Evans then walked with the bases loaded scoring Fenn.

Joe Franke popped out and the Kits were still down 7-4 and were down to their last out.  Mihevc then scored on another wild pitch and then Mackenzie O’Neil hit a 2 run single to tie the game.

Russell Snapp took the mound for the Kits in the 8th and set the Vikings down 1-2-3 setting the stage for Otting’s dramatic home run.  The home run was Otting’s eighth of the season and ties an Evanston single season record.  James Allen started for the Kits going 5 innings.  He was relieved by Zach Anderson and then Snapp.

Evanston moves its record to 14-9 and 5-6 in the CSL.  They return to action on Monday when they host Ridgewood High School at the ETHS baseball field.
