The Evanston Wildkits baseball team plays in the championship game today at the Spring Classic tournament in Orlando, Fla., after a third straight victory Wednesday.

In Wednesday’s contest Evanston starting pitcher Jordan Crawford had another solid outing, but this time he got some run support as the Evanston Wildkits defeated Narbonne High School from Los Angeles, California 11-5.

The Kits jumped out early and never looked back.  RBI hits by Connor Hackett, Jeremias Delgado and  Brandon Vamarasi keyed a four-run first inning.  Vamarasi was two for two with three RBI on the day.

Evanston scored three more runs in the third and two more in the fourth. Narbonne cut the lead to 9-3 but then the Kits countered with two insurance runs in the seventh. Max Siedlecki and James Hageman were each two for three for the Kits.

Crawford had been a hard luck pitcher in his first three starts but Wednesday his six inning, six hit and three run outing was not spoiled. Hunter Bailey finished the seventh on the mound for Evanston.

Evanston’s season records stands at 8-4. They’ll play James Madison of Virginia in the championship game at 1 p.m. this afternoon and then return to Evanston this evening.

In the five years of taking spring trips, three wins is the most any Wildkit team has accomplished.
