The Evanston Township High School Wildkit varsity played a solid game Thursday afternoon against Virginia’s James Madison High School but lost 4-2 in the championship of the Spring Classic in Orlando, Fla.
Charlie Binford pitched five innings for the Kits, walking none and giving up only one earned run. He was relieved by Josh Isenstein, Jack Anderson and Matt Munro.
Evanston scored in the fourth on Evan Binford’s RBI single and rallied in the bottom of the seventh scoring once and ended the game with runners on second and third.
The trip was the most successful spring trip ever for the Kits. Several players won honors at the tournament: Max SIedlecki was named to the All -Tournament team, Jeremias Delgado was named the Gold Glover winner in the tournament and Miles Shatkin was named the Cy Young award winner.
The Kits are now 8-5 on the season and return to in action Saturday against Mundelein.
