More than a half dozen chefs will participate in a benefit food tasting for the Friends of Evanston Farmers Markets on Thursday evening, Sept. 27.
The event at Now We’re Cookin’, 1601 Payne St., runs from 6:30 to 9 p.m.
Chefs participating in the event include:
- Bruce Sherman of North Pond, an Evanston resident and the recipient of the prestigious 2012 James Beard Award for best chef in the Great Lakes Region.
- Carlos Ysaguirre of Anteprima and Acre.
- Jose Romero of Chef’s Station.
- Brian Huston of The Publican.
- David Perlick of Terra Bistro.
- Victor Hernandez of Stained Glass.
And the Hummingbird mobile gourmet kitchen from Campagnola will also be on site.
The chefs will each make a tasting dish from fresh produce, meat and dairy products provided by farmers from the Evanston Downtown Market.
Tickets, available online, are $65 until Sept. 8; $75 thereafter. Space is limited.
Friends of Evanston Farmers Markets is a non-profit that educates the public about the benefits of eating fresh, locally grown foods, and advocating greater access to healthy food for all community members, regardless of means.
Now We’re Cookin’ promotes culinary education and entrepreneurship. In its demonstration and commercial kitchens, chefs conduct a wide range of cooking classes and host private parties, events and corporate meetings.It also provides rental production space for small culinary enterprises.
