The owner of Jan’s Antiques says she’s having to scale down the size of her shop in moving to Evanston from Chicago’s West Loop neighborhood.

But Jan Seymour will still have roughly 11,000 square feet of space at the new location at 2002 Dempster St., in the same building that houses the recently opened Temperance Brewery.

Seymour, who tells DNAInfo.com that she’s been selling antiques for more than 40 years, is having to move out of her space of 22 years at 225 W. Racine because she’s lost her lease.

With Google moving in just blocks away, Seymour said she worries the old neighborhood will turn into a tech hub.

But her stuff — from old furniture to chandeliers — is finding a new home here in Evanston.
