After 37 years as a North Shore juried art show, the Fountain Square Art Fest in Evanston is getting a major makeover this year.
Rebranded as the “Evanston Chamber Artisan SummerFest” it will be held from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, June 24 and 25, at Sherman Avenue. and Church Street downtown.
A $5 suggested adult gate donation benefits the Evanston Chamber of Commerce.
Visitors will experience the eclectic handiwork of more than 80 juried artists plus 30 “Remix” artists who craft unique eco-friendly art from recycled and found materials. The Remix area will also offer free educational workshops.
Other features of the event include::
- Ticketed craft beer & wine tastings for ages 21 and older from 2 to 6 p.m. each afternoon With the purchase of a $25 pass, visitors can sample up to 15 specialty brews and fine wines.
- Pop-up street musicians and performers throughout the weekend.
- Food, beer and wine vendors throughout the festival
A street mural, created by children attending the event be installed at an Evanston location that will be announced at the fest.

The former Fountain Square Art Fair has been “showing its age” for the past few years —- fewer artists / poorer quality art —- all easily seen by those of us have gone, year after year after year.
let’s hope we get a rejuvenated Art Fair in June ! If not, then this art fair has become old & tired, which is why the exhibiting artists are fewer & fewer each year — and some of the best disappeared several years ago . Here’s to a strong renewal !
