The Illinois Standards Achievement Test, or ISAT, will be administered in Evanston/Skokie District 65 schools starting on Monday, March 14.

The test period runs through March 25. Most students will take the exams during the first week. The second is reserved for make-up tests.

Students in grades 4 and 7 are tested in reading, mathematics, and science.  Students in grades 3, 5, 6 and 8 are tested in reading and mathematics.

The ISAT is administered to all students in grades three through eight unless they have an individualized education plan (IEP) that requires them to take the Illinois Alternative Assessment (IAA).

The state of Illinois sends ISAT results to districts in the fall. Individual student results are forwarded from the district to parents.

School and districtwide ISAT data are used for school improvement planning. The results are also compiled by the state into the Illinois School and District Report Cards to report overall achievement results for the schools and district compared to that of the rest of the state.

These results are used in the state and federal accountability system.

Information about the is available on the Illinois State Board of Education website.
