A citywide tree planting and clean-up event is scheduled for April 21 throughout Evanston to celebrate Earth Day and Arbor Day.

The event, called “Clean up Evanston!,” will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at locations throughout the city.

During the event, the Evanston Ecology Center will host family-friendly Earth Day festivities and nature play from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at 2024 McCormick Blvd.

The city will also hold a tree planting ceremony at the Ladd Arboretum at 10 a.m. to celebrate the city’s long-standing Tree City USA designation.

This year’s event is made possible through partnerships with Evanston TreeKeepers, the two public school districts, Northwestern University, Canal Shores, and Ridgeville Park District.

Additional information about volunteer opportunities in various parks and schools throughout the city can be found on the Volunteer Evanston website.
