Of five incidents listed on today’s daily crime bulletin from Evanston police, one was a “shots fired” call that turned out to be nothing, and the other four were discoveries of graffiti. In addition, there was an arrest for possession of cannabis and another for battery by a homeless person.  There were no burglaries, thefts, or robberies reported.

Graffiti

2400 Main

Graffiti was discovered at a store in the 2400 block of Main Street at 9 a.m. yesterday.

900 Davis

Graffiti was discovered on railroad property in the 900 block of Davis Street at 3:16 p.m. yesterday.

1100 Chicago

Graffiti was discovered on the sidewalk in the 1100 block of Chicago Avenue at 4:35 p.m. yesterday.

1000 Wesley

Graffiti was discovered on the street in the 1000 block of Wesley Avenue at 1:05 p.m. yesterday.

Battery

900 Chicago

Anthony J. Verthein, 26, address unknown, was arrested at 900 Chicago Ave. at 4:30 p.m. yesterday and charged with battery. He is due in court on Sept. 11 at 1:30 p.m.

Drugs

1335 Dodge

Javonni M. Reid, 21, of 1935 Jackson Ave., was arrested at 1335 Dodge Ave. at 12:30 a.m. today and charged with possession of cannabis. He is due in court on Sept. 13 at 9 a.m.

Shots Heard

200 Main

Gunshots were reported in the 200 block of Main Street at 1:12 a.m. today. Police checked the area but found nothing.

An arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt, which can only be determined by a court of law. Court appearances take place in Cook County 2nd District Circuit Court in Skokie.
