The Evanston Lighthouse Rotary Club raised $4,200 for the worldwide polio eradication effort with a bike raffle at this summer’s grand prix of cycling event downtown.

Club leaders delivered a check for that amount this week to Dr. Carol Pandack, division manager of Rotary International’s PolioPlus program, at a club meeting at Rotary World Headquarters in Evanston.

The Gates Foundation has issued a $100 million challenge grant to Rotary International to complete its worldwide polio eradication program.

The bike that was raffled off was donated by Turin Bicycle Shop of Evanston.
