Real estate agents at Koenig & Strey in Evanston and across the Chicago area know who their new boss is this morning — Warren Buffett.

A unit of the billionaire’s investment firm Berkshire Hathaway Inc announced today that it has acquired Koenig & Strey GMAC Real Estate from Brookfield Residential Property Services.

Koenig & Strey, based in Wilmette, and with about 900 agents, will keep its name under the deal and will become a Brookfield franchisee. It had been rumored to be for sale for some time. Terms of the deal were not announced.

HomeServices of America, Inc., a Berkshire Hathaway affiliate, has 15,000 real estate professionals and 21 companies operating in 20 states.
