About 150 people turned out for the campaign event at the Mallinckrodt Center in Wilmette.

Tim Gobat of the Evanston Firefighters Local 742, said the union has endorsed Biss because of his dedication to political reform, his support for organized labor, and his passion for helping working families.

Biss was among the public officials and candidatates who participated in a training exercise with firefighters Saturday in Glenview.

At the kickoff event. U.S. Rep. Jan Schakowsky described Biss as “perfect candidate” who “inspires me.” And State Sen. Jeff Schoenberg said he’s supporting Biss because he needs “another strong, reliable, independent, and thoughtful ally at the State capitol.”
