The Evanston150 Steering Committee invites community members of all ages who live, work or study in Evanston to a “Black Tie and Blue Jeans” celebration on Thursday evening, Nov. 10 at the Levy Senior Center..

The event, from 6 to 8:30 p.m., hosted by nationally-acclaimed storyteller Rives Collins, a theater professor at Northwestern University, features the announcement and handing off to the community of the final 10 ideas chosen by the Evanston150 Selection Jury.

The evening at the center at 300 Dodge Ave., includes musical entertainment and a free taste of some of Evanston’s most popular restaurants–concluding with community members gathering around their favorite ideas to begin the process of organizing and implementing them.

The Steering Committee hopes to see all 10 ideas implemented or underway by 2013, the 150th anniversary of Evanston’s incorporation.

Because the evening’s purpose is to both celebrate the community’s top 10 ideas, and get down to work on Evanston’s future, suggested attire of celebratory clothing on top and comfortable clothing on the bottom is encouraged, but not required.
