United Way gets challenge grant

The Evanston Chapter of the United Way of the North Shore is kicking off its 2007 fundraising campaign this week with a Challenge Grant from National City Bank that will match new Leadership givers ($1,000 or more) as well as all current Leadership givers who increase their gift to the next level.

The full donation goes directly to the Evanston chapter and the National City match is invested back into the greater Chicago community through United Way of Metropolitan Chicago.   National City has a location at 1633 Chicago Ave. in Evanston.

Photo contest winners displayed

Award-winning entries in the Faces of Evanston photography contest sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Evanston will go on display on Friday, Oct. 5, at First Bank & Trust, 820 Church St.

The contest, now in its third year, was originally conceived to engage residents in recognizing the beauty and diversity of the Evanston community. A record number of over 70 photographs were submitted this year.

Allegra Printing helps non-profits

Allegra Printing of Evanston has announced the recipients of its first annual Footprint Fund Awards.  The company will offer $10,000 in printing services to the recipients.

Fifteen Evanston-area not-for-profit organizations received awards ranging from $300 to $1,000 which will enable them to produce a variety of print pieces.

Photo contest seeks Evanston images

The third annual Faces of Evanston photography contest, sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Evanston, is now underway.

The contest seeks photos of Evanston’s people, places and things. Last year’s entrants included visitors from Spain as well as local residents and businesspersons.

Photographers can enter their photos, and photo fans can vote for their favorites, at the contest web site,
