Evanston City Manager Wally Bobkiewicz will be staying on the job here, after failing to be selected for a position as administrator of an Oregon county.

Bobkiewicz was the only candidate from outside the region among five finalists for the job as Clackamas County Administrator, but the County Commissioners last Thursday announced that they’d selected an internal candidate, Gary Schmidt, who’s served as director of public and government affairs for the county since 2011.

In a news release, Jim Bernhard, the chair of the County Commission, said, “This was a very difficult decision among five extremely talented candidates.”

  1. Too bad—tax payers would have probably paid his moving expense

We had high hopes he would have turned Evanston’s finances and management around, but no such luck.

Good news is he keeps looking for a new job.
