Evanston police say the man whose body was found beside the Metra tracks at the Dempster Street overpass in Evanston Thursday morning has been identified.

Police say he was Jason Arcangeletti, 34, who lived at 319 Dempster St.

Cmdr. Ryan Glew says the medical examiner’s office hasn’t made a final determination on the cause and manner of death, but that preliminary indications from the injuries to the body are that he was hit by a train and that his death appears to have been a suicide.

An engineer of a passing Metra train first noticed the body beside the tracks shortly after 8 a.m. Thursday, but Glew says the body was frozen when police arrived and it was not clear when the incident occurred.
