Claxton Williams, a 49-year-old homeless man, was arrested at 1633 Central St. at 11:06 a.m. Wednesday and charged with simple battery. A court date was set for May 10.

Shots were reported head at Crain Street and Dewey Avenue at 9:58 p.m. yesterday. Police checked the area and found nothing.

Boiled eggs were stolen from a grocery store in the 1100 block of Chicago Avenue at 4:54 p.m. yesterday.

Paul Anthony Damptz, 37, of 590 Ivy Court, Lake Zurich, was arrested at 2209 Howard St. at 5 p.m. Wednesday and charged with retail theft. A court date was set for 9 a.m. May 26.

Heidi E. Schmidt, 43, of 4047 W. Crystal St., Chicago, was arrested at 2301 Oakton St. at 8 p.m. yesterday and charged with retail theft. A court date was set for 9 a.m. June 20.

Gerardo Guzman-Pena, 36, of 1501 W. Wilson, Chicago, was arrested at 915 Asbury Ave. at 7:45 a.m. yesterday and charged with a traffic violation. A court date was set for 9 a.m. May 26.
