Here’s a recap of our live coverage of tonight’s Evanston City Counci Planning and Development Committee meeting.

The meeting is now scheduled to begin at 7:25 p.m. A packet with information on tonight’s agenda items is available online.

The committee has four items to vote on — including a vacation rental licenss for 2130 Wesley Ave. — as well as discussion items regarding public benefits from planned developments and downtown zoning regulations.

Meeting called to order at 7:27 p.m.

Alderman Judy Fiske, 1st Ward, is filling in as chair of the meeting, with Alderman Don Wilson, 4th Ward, on vacation.

Fiske announces that the two discussion items — public beneifts for planned developments and downtown zoning regulations — won’t be addressed this evening. Wants to hold it for a meeting so that Wilson can be present.

P 1 -Vacation rental license for 2130 Wesley

Alderman Ann Rainey, 8th Ward, notes that the owner is the son of former 9th Ward Alderman Gene Feldman.

Approved.

P 2 – Tenant-based rental assistance program renewal

Ten speakers on public comment for this item.

Approved

P 3 – Plat of resubdivision for 1239 Asbury and 1224 Dempster.

Approved.

P 4 – Special uses for animal day care and kennel, Rex’s Place

Owner says says there’s a strong need for the kennel facility.

Alderman Robin Rue Simmons, 5th Ward, proposes conditioning the properties on Dewey to prohibit additional service inside the home for the business.

Says the yards are being used for dog activity areas — doesn’t want them to move into the residences.

Approved as amended
